Lock & Lock container located on the grounds of the Adaland
Mansion, near Philippi.
The Adaland Mansion Museum, a stately brick home at Philippi, West
Virginia, is set against the rolling hills of Barbour County and
was built in 1870. The mansion house has been restored with great
attention to authenticity for the period of the house. Featured are
the homemade brick and the walnut woodwork throughout the house.
The barn built approximately 1850 has recently been restored and is
open to the public on weekends during tour season. The house and
land reflect the early history of West Virginia with the original
owners engaged in farming. Emancipated slaves from the farm worked
on the construction of the house. The surrounding area is rich in
civil war history with the first land battle of the war fought in
Philippi in June 1861.
Historic Tours are available for small or large groups from May
1 to December 31 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays 11–5 pm and on
Sundays 1–5 pm. Special tours, events, weddings, and meetings can
be booked all year. A history of the house is given along with a
tour of the rooms and basement area.
Permission has be given to Geocache at Adaland. If an employee
asks why you're there while the Mansion is closed, you can be
honest an tell them you're there to find the
geocache.

November 8 by theweirdozone (308 found) Looked all over for this one to no avail. The workers came out and said that the past few people haven't found it either. Oh well. Maybe I'll try this again sometime in the future.
[view this log] | October 6 by beanbag63 (1734 found) We looked way over our 20min rule for this one...there were 4 of us and just could not find it!! Some ladies came out and said we were at the right tree. Seeings as we live in western NYS we may not get a chance to get down for this evil one again....oh well..there is always another cache!! Thanks anyway!
[view this log] | October 4 by basketball_farmgirl (11 found) Ok, I'm not sure what's up with this. My GPS pointed me exactly to the big dead tree with a hole in the bottom and top. As I was walking to the tree, the ladies came out and started talking to my husband. She even said the geocache was there in the tree and that's where everyone has found it. Either she is just messing with us or some muggle got it! We seared that tree for 30 minutes - my husband did everything but climb in top of it. If it is there, please someone tell me and well maybe I don't wanna know because I will feel really stupid.
[view this log] | September 10 by Helldivers (303 found) Another "well-kept secret" location... Helldivers were on the clock today but will return to do the tour of the mansion... nice hide in a very traditional spot.. T-nada L-GlenvilleState College key lanyard stickied the log... thanks
[view this log] | September 10 by IanMelFitz (181 found) Grabbed this one today after fetching the Philippi caches. Something smelled rather dead and/or rotten at the hide though... TFTC!
