Town Name: Pompeii
Population: 150
Reason For Becoming a Lost Town: Another farm town that was devastated when the Great Depression hit and people moved to places that required workers.
Town History: Pompeii, named after the lost city in Italy, existed as a station on the Toledo, Saginaw & Muskegon, (later Grand Trunk), Railroad from 1854-1887. It always had a steady population of around 150, but the downtown section was devastated by the Great Depression and there are hardly any businesses left. It still has a bank and general store and residents are proud to say they live in Pompeii!
