Het Gedenkteken van Groesbeek
Deze cache is een eerbetoon aan alle jonge mensen die hun leven hebben gegeven voor een betere wereld.
Tijdens de Duitse invasie in de Tweede Wereldoorlog, 1940, overleden in Nederland en België vele duizenden mannen en vrouwen van de Briste Commonwealth en het Imperium. In België bevinden zich 11.000 oorlogsgraven en in Nederland 20.000 oorlogsgraven. Er zijn ook nog 1068 onbekende graven, waarvan 103 Canadezen. Voor deze mensen is er op het Canadees kerkhof in Groesbeek een gedenkteken geplaatst. Het Canadees kerkhof bevindt zich 10 kilometer ten zuidoosten van het centrum van Nijmegen. Het herdenkt de leden van het compagnie van de Commonwealth die tijdens de invasie in Noordwest Europa omgekomen zijn tussen eind augustus 1944 en het einde van de oorlog in Europa

Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, de nombreux milliers d'hommes et de femmes de tous les pays du Commonwealth et de l'Empire britannique donnèrent leur vie en essayant de repousser, en 1940, 1'invasion allemande des Pays-Bas et de la Belgique, et lors des combats qui suivirent pour libérer les pays occupés. Quelque onze mille d'entre eux sont inhumés en Belgique, et près de vingt mille aux Pays-Bas.
Mille soixante-huit d'entre eux, dont cent trois Canadiens, ont été inhumés dans un endroit inconnu. Le Monument commémoratif de Groesbeek, situé dans le cimetière de guerre canadien de Groesbeek, à dix kilomètres environ au sud-est de la ville hollandaise de Nimègue, rappelle le souvenir de ces membres des forces terrestres du Commonwealth morts pendant la campagne du nord-ouest de l'Europe, entre la traversée de la Seine survenue à la fin d'août 1944, et la fin de la guerre en Europe.
Groesbeek Memorial
During the Second World War, many thousands of men and women from all countries of the British Commonwealth and Empire lost their lives in trying to repel the German invasion of the Netherlands and Belgium in 1940. In the ensuing struggle to liberate the occupied countries, some 11,000 of these have their graves in Belgium and nearly 20,000 lie in the Netherlands.
There are 1,068 who have no known grave. Of these, 103 are Canadians. The Groesbeek Memorial stands in Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery about ten kilometres southeast of the Dutch town of Nijmegen. It commemorates, by name, those members of the Commonwealth land forces who died during the campaign in Northwest Europe between the time of crossing the Seine at the end of August 1944 and the end of the war in Europe.
