SCCB Reiff Park Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

SCCB: This cache was a part of a letterbox challenge set up in 2012. Due to staff changes at the conservation board the boxes were left out after the challenge. So long in fact that it took until 2017 for them to be collected. SCCB is so glad that many could enjoy them in the 5 years they were out and we are working on getting new hides out in all the county conservation board areas including a new one in this area by Fall 2017!

This 120 acre park is located 1 1/2 miles south of Early on Hwy. 71. The park is split by the Boyer River with the west 2/3 of the park remaining undeveloped. The park has a large evergreen plantation west of the river as well as several hardwood plantings and native grass plots.
Reiff Park has 7 shaded campsites with water and electric (30 amp) hookups. Restrooms and a dump station are located near the campground. Primitive or tent camping is also allowed. The campground is open from April 1 through mid-October, weather permitting.

There is an enclosed shelterhouse located at Reiff Park as well as two small open air shelters The enclosed shelterhouse is available for reservation from April 1 through mid-October or on a first-come, first-serve basis. The shelter has indoor bathrooms and a fireplace with indoor grills and seats approximately 100 people. A playground and small pond are located nearby.

The western 2/3 of the park is managed as a wildlife area and hunting and fishing opportunities abound. The river is home to both channel and catfish and some bluegills can be caught in the pond. Hunting for whitetail deer, pheasants and other small game is also very popular in this part of the park. Bowhunting is allowed during the appropriate seasons, and firearm hunting is only allowed after the camping areas have been closed for the season (after mid-October).
