Geocache Description:

As you will discover as you approach the cache from the recommmended parking area, you are walking along the Newcastle to Seattle railroad grade which serviced the Newcastle mines from circa 1870 to 1930. The trestle over May Creek was quite impressive for its time and is referenced in the "May Creek Trestle" cache which is nearby.
A fascinating history of the coal mining era of Puget Sound is detailed in The Coals of Newcastle, published by the Issaquah Alps Trail Club.
The cache is a 7.62mm ammo box filled with goodies and a special travel bug. Please re-camouflage it as this area is frequented by neighborhood kids in good weather. If you're feeling adventurous the "Devil's Elbow" cache is close.
Recommended parking is at N47 31.357 W122 09.935
