Geocache Description:

The cache is reachable via a few easily negotiated tracks leading from roads in the area of Crawley, Hampshire. I'd say access is possible for a (large wheeled) pram and is primarily on the level.

The parish of Crawley comprises open chalk downs between Winchester and Chilbolton. The village itself is in a beautiful picturesque setting with village pond, quintessential pub with the downs themselves stretching away to a thickset hedge with its belt of hedgerow growth mingled with beech, oak, ash, yew trees and crabapple trees that run along to the left of the Roman road from Winchester to Cirencester.

A walk to the cache takes in some Forestry Commission land with typical chalk grassland and native flowers. The cache itself is a small ammo box with the usual contents including ‘treasure’ suitable for children of all ages, a log book, and room for itinerant travel bugs.

The tracks leading close to the cache are suitable for a sturdy pram, people who prefer a level walk, and an easy mountain bike or family trip (we took 40 mins to get to there from our parking spot with five children, the youngest being four years old).
