This cache is reached by a hike of approximately 1 mile with a few hundred feet of elevation gain. In late spring and early summer the area will be covered in yellow Balsam Root. Even now the smaller wildflowers are out in perfusion. Blasting straight up on the GPS heading isn't the best way to go!
Trailhead parking is at N48 27.717 and W120 14.639. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife threatens a $66 fine for parking in their area but there is room across from the trailhead for two or three cars just off the road. Local hikers always use this. From the cache site you can continue to the summit of Patterson Mountain. The round trip to the summit should take about two hours exclusive of caching time. The cache itself is perhaps a 25 minute walk each way.
BTW, we have added "View of Our Home" farther up the mountain. Be sure to go for them both. BBy(s)
