Shippool Castle, which is situated on the banks of the Bandon river was built in 1544. The location of the castle was selected to offer the best offensive against any offending ships sailing up the Bandon River.
At the parking location you will see the remains of the castle, and from here you can follow the path along the waterside to the cache location.
Please note that the path can be slippy in wet conditions, and please take note of the signs on the path, and do not stray off path. The path isn't as bad as the sign's make it out to be!! Enjoy it :)
