Geocache Description:

The 1971 Gold Cup was a special time in the history of the race. The City of Madison, Indiana has had many races run there and being that the community owns the Miss Madison boat, it is a big time when the Indian’s Governor’s Cup race lands on the same day as the Gold Cup. This year was made extra special as Jim McCormick driving a well out dated Miss Madison boat won the only Gold Cup in its history. One race, two cups, and the hometown crowd and first ever win for this driver. The race was won with an average speed of 98.043 MPH.

Miss Madison specs:
Engine: Allison
Owner: City of Madison
