Geocache Description:

I have always enjoyed the hike from Gray Butte to Smith Rocks. I also enjoy Geocaching so I figured why not put them together so I came up with a series to include both. Each cache is approximately .2 miles from the last one.  They are all small with only room for logs so don’t forget to bring a writing stick. Most of them are within 20 feet of the trail with some of them in reach from the trail.

G-S#1 is at the Gray Butte trailhead parking lot and G-S#33 is after the foot bridge at Smith Rocks State Park. It’s about a 8 ½ mile hike one way and you can either hike both ways or just do a threw hike. We usually use two geomobiles (one at Smith Rocks and one at Gray Butte) so we can just do the threw hike.

To get to the Gray Butte Trailhead Take Lone Pine road to road NF-1395 and follow your GPS to the 1st cache and you will be at the Gray Butte Trailhead Parking lot.

There are some great views along the hike like the Creson Viewpoint that is about 1.9 miles from the Trailhead. You can also hike up Gray Butte or Burma Butte on your way down to Smith Rocks.

As always replace cache as you found it and have a great hike.

Congratulation to elkjim on the FTF.
