Geocache Description:

Cache's original position is now unreachable because of high water level so it has been moved inland to a more safe and secure position. The cache you are seeking is within Hurford Park. It is a small (10cm) clear plastic cylinder that contains a small log book and pencil. Terrain is relatively easy - very little walking involved. Please watch out for the water - river level currently high.

Hurford Park is a road reserve named in recognition of a long standing local family who have lived in and owned land in Goolwa in the near vicinity of this location since 1922. Cliff Hurford settled in Goolwa in 1922 and at one time owned the Goolwa Bakery in Dawson Street. He is buried in the Currency Creek Cemetery. Many other members of the Hurford family have owned property and resided in the area since the time when the river running next to the park was still salt water. Take care - water is now close to GZ and mosquitos can be thick at times.
