Geocache Description:

Pillar Point Mojado lived happily near here until flimsy construction and a bad hiding spot conspired to lose it. Piedras Mojadas, son of Pillar Point Mojado, took its place, and was also washed away or muggled. This third incarnation should last.

Just south of surf mecca Maverick's, Pillar Point Harbor is a lovely spot--you can see birds, sail boats, kayakers, fisherman, sea lions, dogs & their families galore. It's also on the flight path for the nearby Half Moon Bay Airport, so aviation-philes will get their fair share of small plane exposure. And now you can go caching there, too!

Parking is convenient at N37 30.123, W122 29.817. There is about a half mile stroll to get to the breakwater, which is where you'll find the cache--literally.

As always when you are the near the ocean, keep in mind that high seas can be hazardous. Don't bother going if the weather is inclement, if the tide is high, or if there are high surf advisories--not only will you likely get soaked (or worse), the cache may be inaccessible. On a calm day, though, it is a glorious find and you'll have plenty of fisherman keeping you company.

The cache is a Costco plastic cashew container, about half a gallon in volume, inside a brown rice bag, which adds both insulation and camo. You will have to move a rock or two to access it. Please be sure to re-cover and re-weight the cache with its rocky neighbors, both to keep it hidden and from being dislodged by weather.

Without the hints, this is 3.5 or 4 star hide. However, if you're stymied, the hint should drop it down two stars. in the hints. Enjoy!
