Geocache Description:

Gateway to the Old Canada Scenic Byway

NOTICE! DO NOT try and log this cache if you can't drive into the rest area (if it is not plowed in winter)! This is a very busy highway and it would be dangerous to park on the side of the highway. The Old Canada Road Scenic Byway begins a few feet away at the Solon town line and continues 78 miles to the Canadian border. For the most part it either follows or parallels the historic Indian/American settler's path to Quebec. It connects the Kennebec river in Maine (which empties into the Atlantic ocean) with the Chaudiere river in Quebec (which empties into the St. Lawrence river.) I believe that this route is one of the prettiest stretches on highway in New England, and they are many geocaches along the route for you to enjoy. This is a good cache for travel bugs as there is a lot of north/south trffic.

Update, Nov 15, 2010. There is now a sign at the entrance to the rest area.
