Geocache Description:

To get to this lookout, take FS road 3730 then turn right on FS Road 050. There is a gate in about one mile. If the gate is closed, you will have about a 1.5 mile hike all uphill! But, we have been informed that the gate is open most of the year. While at the gate be sure and look for Robinson Rock. This cache may be accessed in the winter via snowmobile too! The road past the gate is a little steep and rocky, so we suggest a high clearance vehicle and 4X4 may help.

This Forest Service Fire Lookout was condemned in 2015. It is still standing but there are steps missing so please don't climb up. While there, check out the benchmark in one of the footings for the original tower near the cache location too!

Here's a little history on the lookout: Established with a camp in 1917, this 20' pole L-4 tower was built in 1933. It was replaced in 1974 by a 53' treated timber R-6 tower moved from Blue Rock L.O.
