This cache was placed on the loop trail around Russell Pond. The location is about half way around the lake on a nice wooded trail. Nice beach, rope swing for the older kids and good fishing. The road to this campground is a seasonal road and blocked off after Columbus Day weekend and opens up in mid May. If you choose to hike in from the gate it is good 6 mile hike.
There are plenty of trinkets in this cache so if you are bringing your family there will be enough for all to take something and replace with something of theirs. This is our first placing of a cache and we have included a "Travel Bug" in the cache. Please take it and start it on it's journey for us. My children and I look forward to tracking it's progress on travelbugs.com. We go to Russell Pond camping every father's day, just the kids and I and we look forward to seeing and hearing from all who find our cache when we return next year. If your are visiting the park or staying at the campground this is a little something extra to do. The lucky first finder will get a fancy LED flashlight which we have taped our Travel Bug too. The name is the key to finding the cache, which also includes some hiking clips, frogs and lizards and balls. There is a frog guarding the cache. Have fun!
