Less than a half mile east from Rock Springs. Right on the border of Utah Co and Wasatch Co. Altitude 9560 ft. (see USGS Q1522). 1260 ft differece from the trailhead sign. Nice trail all the way (but steep in places).
Directions: Take the cascade springs road from the south fork of American Fork Canyon (paved). Turn onto a dirt road at 40 27.214 / 111 34.862 (alt 7320). The road gets a bit bad after 40 28.122 / 111 34.974 (alt 8040) so if you're not in a 4x4 you may want to park here. The trail head (0157)sign is at 40 28.440 / 11 35.273 (alt 8300) and there is a good place to park your 4x4 here. If your lucky you've got a dirtbike or some horses or else enjoy the hike. Don't forget your water. If you head to Rock Springs (on 0157) 40 29.478 / 111 34.787 (alt 9480) there is a water source there (filters are a nice precaution). From there you are in sight of the (upper) trail ((038) to the SE) that I took over to the cache and a beautiful view of Heber and Deer Creek Res.
Cache Info: This another black PVC tube cache like my first. Since I started off to place it on September 11th, I put in a small flag (which should stay with the cache) in rememberance of those that lost their lives and the Hero's of 9-11. I also started my first Travel Bug here (Husky 9-11 "lets roll" TB) with a goal to visit all the 9-11 sites and return.
Starting Items: Travel Alarm clock/calc, combo compass-watch-led-clip, AM Radio w/2 AA's, Lanyard, 2 compressed sponges, Husky 911-Lets Roll-TB, Log book & Flag (stays).
