Geocache Description:

It’s time once again for the now 5th annual

BerthaBrock ParkCache-o-rama!!!

July 14th, 2007

(See bottom for new event information!!)

That’s right!  The event that we’ve all come to love and enjoy is celebrating it’s 5th year this summer at Bertha Brock Park, Ionia Mi.  Please join us at this beautiful park that seems made for geocaching.  We’ve been having this little shindig now for 5 years, and it’s always been a blast, even when we got rained out (more than once!).

There will be many activities planned for this day, and zero obligations. If you want to come and cache your butt off, you can! If you want to come and enjoy a campfire, friends, and stories, you can!

If you just want to drop off that crazy geocaching spouse someplace, and then enjoy a quiet serene setting in one of  Michigan’s most beautiful parks, you can!

We’re still finalizing activities, but they will include a gps based ‘closest to the pin’ contest, day of the event geocaches, and night cacheing.  Bring your hiking boots, this place is huge! (Okay, it’s big.. maybe not huge J ).  Saturday night will be our infamous potluck dinner (featuring the Denvernators multi-alarm chili).  Also, thanks to a generous contribution from the SW Mich Chapter of MiGo,  Saturday afternoon will have hotdogs/chips and fixings provided free of charge.

There will be prizes for some events, nothing earth shattering….maybe. Also, I think I’m going to work in some sort of white elephant event, one years prizes were moppets and still one of the best gifts going.  If anyone would like to bring any items for prizes, please contact me and I’ll be happy to accept them.  I think the last few years, very few have gone home empty handed, and in some cases, entire families have cleaned up!

Look to this page soon for a timetable of all what will be happening.  Team Ndorfn has done a tremendous job with the Saturday activities and I’ll be getting an idea of a schedule from them soon.

Bertha Brock Park is by far one of the most enjoyable and beautiful places I have ever camped.  My family and I along with Team Ndorfn encourage those who are able to arrive a few days early or stay a few days late to enjoy this nice park.  Management of the park (Nicole Frost) has been a dream to work with and are always willing to help us in any way.  The park offers many rustic campsites, no hookups or electric tho.  In 2006 we celebrated the arrival of a flush facilities building!!  There is restricted space for large campers and trailers. We’ve managed to squeeze in a 5th wheel or two, but please contact me before making plans in stone.  There are limited sites that can fit big devices, and looking at the park over the winter it appears the bridge is back in some form, possibly restricting height too.

Reservations can be made by email or phone at the link at the top of this page. Sites 21, 22 are typically ‘base camp’ and site 23 is one of the few accessable to rv’s.  Also, check out the cabin rentals. These are great, and if not for our hosting, it’s where my family would be camped.

Hope to see you all there!!!

For those of you considering heading to the MWGB (Midwest Geobash) BBP is only 147 miles from your next weekend of fun!

Here’s the Schedule!!!  Thanks again to Team Ndorfn for doing 99% of the work!

Another annual tradition is our Saturday Potluck Dinner.  If you have never been able to attend before, make sure to bring your appetite.  If possible, post what you are planning on bringing.  This is not a requirement, but is helpful to everyone else.  This might be a great time to pull out the Dutch Oven and try a new recipe!!  Or, better yet, a seasoned old recipe.

NEW THIS YEAR!

Starting on my arrival sometime Thursday afternoon, I’ll be setting up a trade table. Many of us have gpsr’s, pda’s, and other related items that we collect not knowing what to do with them. So I’ll have a table or two setup for folks to drop items on to trade or sell.  Just tag your item with your name and campsite number or how else we may find you.  If you happen to have a lot of items, consider bringing a table of your own.  We’ll do the best we can with the tables volunteered to us.

The hours of this swap will be primarily Saturday afternoon, but there is little time limit. I’ll arrive Thursday and leave Monday.

I will attest that we (The Denvernators) will have a gps or two out to swap, as well as a slew of frs radios and a pda or two. (PAPERLESS CACHING!)

So bring the goodies and we’ll see if we can’t clean out the closets. (or fill them?)
