Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the above coordinates.

In fact, if you go to those coordinates, you will likely be struck by car, so don't do that.

The eastern end of Missouri's Highway 6 is in Marion County at Highway 61 just 5 miles from the Missouri-Illinois border. Like the early pioneers did, Highway 6 treks west across the midwestern prairie, meandering through towns like Edina, Kirksville, Milan, Trenton, Gallatin, Maysville and eventually settles down and ends in St. Joseph where it becomes Frederick Avenue. Officially, Frederick begins at the intersection of Highway 6 and Riverside Road, and ends in the heart of downtown at the odd five-way intersection of Frederick, Francis and 9th - a length of approximately 4.6 miles. St. Joseph was founded by Joseph Roubidoux, and several of it's streets are named for his wife (Angelique) and children (Messanie, Faraon, Jules, Francis, Felix, Edmond, Charles and Sylvanie). However, Frederick avenue was named in honor of the man Roubidoux hired to lay out his town, Frederick W. Smith.

To determine the exact coordinates of this cache, you will need to find the letters pictured below. All of them can be found at well-known businesses and sites that are visible from along Frederick Avenue.

This cache is one of five caches in the "Explore St. Joe" series. Information at this cache can be used to help find "Explore St. Joe - Oriental Knolls - GC25AYY". Here's how you determine the final coordinates:

1) Find each of the letters along Frederick Avenue. Make note of the latitude & longitude of each location.

2) Number them 0-9 in order of their location from west to east, with 0 being the western-most location and 9 being the eastern-most.

3) Replace the letters listed in the following coordinates with it's associated number. The cache is at:

N39 4M.WIS
W94 4E.RHT

4) Find that cache!

Remember, if you take some swag, please leave some swag. If you take a trackable, please leave a trackable. Permission from the local proprietor was received for hiding this cache.
