Geocache Description:

The co-ordinates shown are for parking at Prestongrange Industrial Museum.

Prestongrange is a site of major importance in the story of Scotland's Industrial Revolution. It was the location of a sixteenth century harbour, a seventeenth century glass works, eighteenth and nineteenth century potteries (including teapots) and a nineteenth/twentieth century coal mine and brick works. Remnants of these former industries can still be seen, and many of the structures are still intact including the rare Hoffman Kiln and the Cornish Beam Engine, unique in Scotland.

The museum site is open to the public all day, throughout the year. The visitor centre and exhibitions are open between 11am and 4pm from April to October. Admission is free.

This cache encourages you explore the site and use the information available on the information boards around the site itself to determine the co-ordinates of the final cache. The site is relatively compact so no additional waypoints are shown.

The cache contains lots of toys including gliders, cars, marbles and travel games. The site can be accessed by buggies but the final part is rougher terrain. We hope you all enjoy.
