This cache will appeal to the masochist in you and the sadist in
me. The hike is almost a mile on the way out with almost every
single step being up. Babbling brooks, small waterfalls, and
wonderful vistas of Jackson County are the reward. And, of course,
a cache.
The coordinates listed above are NOT for the physical
cache but for the first waypoint. There are three stops and then
the cache. At each stop you will be provided with the last three
digits of the latitude and longitude for the next stop. The last
two stops and the physical cache have the same starting digits:
N 35° 24.XXX
W 83° 12.XXX
The hike and cache are hidden on private property. Permission
has been given to place this cache. You might want to place a note
on the dashboard explaining that you are geocaching. Parking for
this cache can be found at the end of Monteith Branch Road (SR
1443) just before the gate. The parking coordinates I got were N
35° 24.855 W 83° 12.643. Once you get to the last coordinates the
cache (an ammo box) will be found 55 feet away at a bearing of 333
degrees true, behind a large white boulder.
