Upper Park Climb Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Thrak: The curse of the Ammo Can Caches. Over the years I have had a number of caches stolen and it was usually an Ammo Can. I've tried replacing them but both of the ones I replaced were almost immediately stolen again.

Given the track record of this type of container I'm going to archive this one. It's had a really long run (it was my first cache placement). I took to heart the admonitions of seasoned cachers to "find at least 100 caches before placing one" so as to have an idea what made a decent hide vs a horrible hide and this one has lasted since 10/2005.

I hate to see it go but I'm done replacing stolen ammo cans.

Geocache Description:

Park at Horeshoe Lake. Rattlesnakes are a possiblity with warm weather so watch where you step. Know what poison oak looks like. I'd suggest you take some water along for the hike. The trails can be pretty popular at times so use a little stealth if needed when looking in the cache.

Container is a .30 cal ammo can filled with lots of stuff. Unregistered TB Dog Tag for FTF.

NOTE: The main entrance is closed to vehicle traffic from 11:00 PM until one hour before sunrise and the Upper Park Road past Horseshoe Lake is closed to vehicle traffic on Sunday and Monday.
