Geocache Description:

*****PLEASE note the new date. this CITO has been postponed until march 11th (saturday) due to the 6+ inches of snow on the cape. here's hoping we might draw a larger crowd with the extra time!****

CITO to help out the Barnstable Land Trust.

I am currently voluntering with the BLT and they are very eager to place caches on properties they own in order to draw more attention and people to those lands and their cause. I'm hoping that through this CITO and future operations, we can start to develop a positive relationship with more organizations like this one on the cape, and eventually throughout massachusetts.

On Saturday, March 11th at 9 a.m. the Barnstable Land Trust (BLT) will be conducting a clean up of our land in the neighborhood. BLT is a private, non-profit, member supported organization dedicated to preserving land in its natural state. The property owned by BLT is off Whip-O-Will Road. It protects the sensitive recharge area to the adjacent well field that provides public drinking water. If any of you have ventured through the trails of this property, you've probably noticed a large amount of trash and yard waste. Our goal is to clean the land for your enjoyment and health, in addition to the enviromental benefits of wildlife.

We’ve enlisted the help of AmeriCorps Cape Cod whose members will be in service with a truck and a number of tools. We’d love for you to help out and become a BLT land steward. More volunteers and trucks will help lighten the work and lessen the number of trips to the landfill.

I'm thinkin about finding a spot for lunch after the cleanup, or if there are any early birds, a place for breakfast before!
