Near the summit of Clagh Ouyr, a hill of nearly 1800 feet at the
western end of the superb North Barrule ridge.
Although only a short walk from the car, the terrain is rough
and boggy for the first section, then a long climb on good ground
is required to reach the summit. From here, the view really opens
up and is magnificent in all directions. However, it is high land
with no shelter from the weather so wear sensible walking gear even
in summer. It can get very cold near the top if you catch the
wind.
In any conditions it's worth loading all the additional
waypoints into your GPS as there are many false trails in the area.
In mist, the return path can be particularly elusive and it's easy
to end up in a marsh with no indication of the correct exit. If you
follow the waypoints you should find a decent narrow trail all the
way.
The open aspect means that GPS should take you right to the
cache, which is a small container inside a camo bag. There's room
for a a few swaps.
Part of the "Three Legs" series of caches. See the final cache
(GC12AQM) for full details.
Make a note of the keyword you find written on the cache log
book. You can use this in conjunction with the translation table
(see GC12AQM) to obtain a three-digit number, which
is part of the coordinates for Three Legs: Quocunque. In this case, the three
numbers correspond to A,D and G.
