How Geocaching Works
This cache is placed with the permission of the Eureka Springs Parks Department and is one of a series of caches to show visitors some of the many natural springs located in and around the city.
The Grotto Spring is located on Spring Street and was originally listed as Sheffield or Oak Spring - because of it's street side location on the "Boulevard" (as Spring Street was known in the 1880's) it was decided that an ornate stone surround would be appropriate. The Oak Sheffield Spring reservation was established in 1886.
Please note - this cache is not placed in the maintained gardens around the springs, if the gardens are damaged by geocachers the Parks Department will ask to have the caches removed. Please be respectful of any plantings - enjoy Eureka Springs and come back to see us often!
Please replace the cache exactly as found so that it is not visible to passers by.
There is a Gumby Keychain for the FTF!
Congrats to TopGun and Marty for the FTF!

Oak Spring before it became the Grotto
This is a view of Oak Spring as it naturally came out of the ground. This is in 1880 before the Grotto was built, and before the "Boulevard" ran past it.
The completed Gotto circa 1889
