I originally was planning on making two separate hides out of
this cache, but they are a mere 0.3 miles apart, so multi it
is!
The first stop is an unusual 80 foot tall, work-in-progress
steel sculpture called the Mindfield. It is the creation of local
artist Billy Tripp. This thing is like nothing you have ever seen!
For extra points, tell me the only plastic parts of the sculpture
(look up high!). You do not have to cross the fence to obtain this
cache! To learn more about this interesting piece of work, see the
link here...
The coordinates at the first stop tell you exactly where, but
the second stage is at an area of Brownsville known as College
Hill. Pay attention to the beautiful old houses up and down College
Street. College Hill Center was originally built in 1851 as the
Baptist Female College. College Center houses the Felsenthal
Lincoln Collection, owned by Morton Felsenthal and his father. The
lifetime collection contains many books, pictures, documents and
artifacts of Abraham Lincoln’s life, including presidential signed
documents, campaign tokens and letters from his early law career,
political life and Civil War years in the White House. The Haywood
County Museum is also housed in the center, with artifacts and
documents that trace the history of the town from Native American
occupation to present day. The Haywood County Sports Museum, within
the same complex, honors teams and individuals from Brownsville who
have achieved local, state and national recognition. Further
information about the College Center and the museum collections can
be obtained by calling (731) 772-4883.
At the request of a local firefighter, DO NOT PARK ON THE STREET
BY STAGE 2!!! There is plenty of marked parking nearby. Thanks, and
happy hunting!
