This is a series of circular walks, each of which covers part of
the
Clarendon Way from Winchester to Salisbury
Cathedral. Many of these walks touch on other long-distance
paths, such as the
Itchen Way,
Test Way,
Monarch's Way, etc. Within each walk, there are
a series of geocaches. This is Cache 3 of
Walk
1.
Each walk will published as a set; it may be several months
before all the walks are published.
I will also write these up on my
Inheritance Walks web site, under
"Clarendon Way".
This whole circuit is fairly strenuous--about 8 miles, and about
1300 ft of ascent. But each individual cache is pretty easy.
To download a GPX file of the route, to see the other caches on
the walk, and to read more about it, check out
Clarendon
Way Circuit One: Winchester.
There is also an
Inheritance Walks blog, where you can leave
comments.
Designed to be done as part of the Clarendon 1 circular walk. If
you want to do this cache as a single, I suggest you park at
Shawford Down (N 51 1.319, W 1 19.732), walk
down past the
Bridge pub, and
turn left along the Itchen Way tow path till
you get to Compton Lock, where you turn left over the
footbridge.
