Geocache Description:

To celebrate their milestone, the 100th cache placed by Team Marzipan was called The Mother Cache (GC15RYZ). The object of The Mother Cache is for finders to take one of the ready-prepared caches, BUT ONLY if they are going to hide it as a Daughter Cache.

This Daughter is set close to an old sandstone quarry in Waun-y-Llyn Country Park, known locally as The Snake Pit.

The hard silica rich sandstone was quarried in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
It was taken down the hillside by tramway to Coed Talon where it was ground to produce silica powder.
The old quarries are very noticable so care should be taken with geokids and dogs.
Evidence of the old tramway winding house can be seen close by and if you follow the line of sight downhill
you can see it's partner.

There is no need to bushwhack through the bracken and gorse!
A round trip of just over 1 mile with stunning views on a clear day.
Don't forget your camera (you may even get to see the Beluga take off or land at Hawarden airport).

Please note by seeking this cache you except responsibility for your own safety.
Caching can be dangerous, assess the risks for yourself before seeking this cache.
Thanks to Tom Woodall, Head Ranger Flintshire CC for allowing us to place this cache.

Suggested Parking at N53*06.705 W003*04.127 (Gates locked at 9pm in the summer)
Please don't try parking any closer to the cache as the lanes are very narrow
and often frequented by large farm vehicles.

Congratulations Mr FTF aka PhilPam&Rob
