This cache is located off Route 9 in Clifton. The terrain rating is based upon the steep area near the cache, but may also include the hike to the cache if that's the way you choose.
This cache is placed in memory of our dear friend Aefuss. He loved this spot and the views from this mountain. He referred to this as "Chick Hill", and many of the locals do as well, but its official name is Peaked Mountain. Aefuss rated the original cache on this mountain as one of his favorites. At the time he was relatively new to caching, and said that this particular cache was the first to make him think "out of the box". That original cache has since been archived, but nearby is Cash Cache placed by Parmachenee, a good hide as well! On a clear day it's possible to see across to Cadillac Mountain, and then turn to see Mount Katahdin as well. Please keep in mind that this is a steep mountain and be aware of children with you at all times. To get to the area you will need to turn onto Chick Hill Road from Rt. 9 in Clifton. You will find an area at the end of the road for parking, but it is possible to drive up using 4WD as well. If you'd like to walk up you should plan on a 35-45 minute walk. This area is well visited, please use care and stealth! The container is a regular ammo can, and is well hidden. At original placement it contained log book and pen, a geocaching hat for FTF, a multi-tool, and a few other small items. Replace as found please.
