Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Kaibab Cache. It is located in the Kaibab National forest on BLM lands. This is a Very beautifull spot on the way to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Most people visiting the south rim dont travel the backway on 64 from Cameron... Why I dont know, but that is very good for you and me. This is a quiet area and Lippan Point further up 64, is in my opinion is one of the best spots on the south rim for a quiet sit on your own. This is the first cache that I have hidden and I hope you all enjoy the area and the hunt, as much as I do when I go to the southwest. The cache is in a cammo painted ammo can and well hidden! this area is open to primitave camping so please watch out for people camping in this area. I placed the cache in an area not to close to the usual camping sights but watch out just the same... Ok what you really want to know, Kaibab cache is located off of BLM 6140 road. This road makes a loop around the knoll that the cache is located on. If you can I reccomend making the loop around the knoll to check for muggle's. The road is rocky but any truck will make it... I wouldnt take a rental Caddilac Though lol... if you cant drive around no worry's just watch out and be a little stealthy... Its a heck of a long trip for me to replace the cache LOL please make sure you re-hide in a simmiliar or better way, like I said it is pretty far of the beaten path. but considering all the exploring I do when Im out there. I guess it could be stumbled on by mistake. If you have a few extra minutes, another little secret I have found some cool Marine fossils along the road cut to the left of the knoll that the cache is located on. look for the discontinued tar road and the cattle water holding tank and you'll be close to them. They date to 275 MILLION years old or more...when you hold one in your hand, stop and think about all that has happened over so much time to get us humans here now with our new fangled Gps units... Enjoy the hunt! and remember... "Its a mighty world we live in! but the truth is... Were only passin through." Best wishes, The Hiwayman... 6/21/2009 By the found logs Applejuice 90 is the 100th cacher to find the KAIBAB cache... thankyou to all the cachers who have made the trip out to find it... You might not realize it but it makes me feel very connected to the southwest everytime I see that it has been found... I only wish I could be there! A big thankyou to Flag Mnt Hkrs who was the FTF and has offered to watch over it for me as I am so far away. I'm looking forward to reading the next 100 found logs.
