Located at Arctic Valley, 2/3's the way up to the saddle. Moderate
hike. The last bit is a tad steep - the cache location is actually
higher in elevation than the saddle.
This geocache was placed in Arctic Valley on July 30th 2005 –
the 13th birthday of my Bouvier des Flanders, Clementine. Arctic
Valley is Clemmie’s absolute favorite hiking place of all
time. We’d hike in the summer and fall and backcountry ski in
the winter. Clem and I have spent many wonderful hours up here!
Clem is now retired from hiking – sort of a hiker emeritus.
But she’s extremely excited and thrilled to have a geocache
placed in her honor!!!!!!
I've skied and hiked up at Arctic Valley for the past 40 years -
it is a very very special place.
It was 48 degrees, pouring rain and blowing hard when we placed
the cache. So, we didn't linger. As a result, I didn't take as many
coordinate readings as I wanted. So, please let me know if the
coordinates are off.
The cache is an ammo box chock full with people swag and some of
Clem’s favorite doggie goodies (greenies anyone?). The first
to find prize is a stuffed
Signal the Frog. Poor Signal is crammed into that ammo box, so
he needs to be rescued, ASAP.
Cache Access Notes:
- Arctic Valley/Alpenglow is accessed via the Arctic Valley Road.
Moose Run Golf Course is located at the lower end of the road. The
military maintains Arctic Valley Road and gates it shut between
22:00 hours and 06:00 hours.
- Park in the Alpenglow parking lot ($5 fee required).
- The cache is located about 2/3's the way up to the saddle on
the west side of the valley.
- In the summer, take the main trail on the east side/ski area
side that goes up to the saddle.
- For winter access, backcountry skis or snowshoes will be
required. Stay on the west side all the way up - DO NOT travel on
the east side - the ski area side. Hopefully the cache will be
winter friendly.

September 4, 2009 by Getyup (108 found) We'll this was the last of a quick hike into the valley. The fall colors will turn white soon so you better hurry if you want to grab this one before winter. The cache is in good condition however I broke the rope and had to tie it together, its functional so no worries. Still a view berrry pickers in the neighborhood. I stuck in my favorite " You found Jack Squat coin", didn't take anything out and signed the LB.
