The latest in my cache series dedicated to fellow geocachers I have met while geocaching. This is a three stage multi-cache with a slightly devious hiding spot.
This is the third in my series of tribute caches based on the names of geocachers I have met while geocaching.
I first met Kitelady in the parking lot at Celebration Park on the 21st of July 2002. I was walking my dogs after locating the “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” cache when she arrived to start her hunt. Kitelady didn't take advantage of the head start I always provide to the people I name these caches after so first finder credits are now open to everyone.
When you reach the posted coordinates you will see some information about the sculpture in front of you that was created from the fins of many decommissioned USN submarines. Reading this information might make the following instructions easier to understand. The namesake of one of these submarines has something in common with a kite. Find the two fins of this submarine to determine, the location of your next rest stop.
ABC = The submarine’s number.
D = The total number of people and orcas named on the plaques attached to the two fins.
E = A+C.
F = C+D.
G = A-2*C.
Your next stop is located at N47 40.EDA, W122 14.EFG
Now that you’ve reached a nice spot to fly a kite, relax and look for another plaque that mentions a species of bird.
H = The number of these birds mentioned on the plaque.
J = 2*H.
The cache is located at N47 40.DCJ, W122 15.HAG
You will need to ascend a small hill to reach the cache location but you definitely would not want to fly a kite there. The container is a 1 gallon Rubbermaid Roughneck box in a plastic bag. These containers are not waterproof but their lids will keep the rain out as long as they remain upright so please leave it, and everything around it, exactly as you found it to keep the water out and preserve the devious aspect of the hide.
The original contents of the cache were all related to flight; a white NASA patch from the Watch Your Head cache, a pair of Birds of a feather figures from the Birds of a Feather cache, two toy jets and a Disney parrot figure sitting on a gold filled ore car.
