Located in the old comunity of Wilhites, Alabama. Terrain not too difficult.
This is a multi cache in the old community of Wilhites, Alabama. There is nothing left of the old community except some old foundations near the railroad tracks. Back in the 19th century there was a Train station and some small stores and a few houses in this area. Local farmers would travel here to trade and bring their corn to market down the old corn road located nearby. The first stage of this cache is located near where the train station was and is located away from the tracks for your safety and to comply with geocaching guidelines. This stage has a bad habit of coming up missing. I think maybe the Pack Rat that got it the first time found it again. I have replaced the bison tube with a camo'd pill bottle in such a way that I hope it will not disappear so easy. At least it isn't shiny so maybe the rat will ignore it.
The second stage is near Wilhite cemetery. This cemetery was part of the community and many of the areas earliest European residents are buried here but not resting in peace anymore because of the interstate right next door. Most people do not even realize this cemetery is here, it had been unused since the early part of the 20th century. Take time to read the marker near the cemetery entrance. The cache container is a small lock-'n-lock container with a log and a few small trade items. The cache is not in the cemetery and when searching there is no need to leave the woods or go near the interstate. Keep it safe and don't try to get the cache from the interstate, check the parking waypoint provided below.
