Geocache Description:

Come on out to Lake Atwood at The Hollows Conservation Area in Cary for a bring-your-own picnic followed by a paddle on the lake.

I need to get my kayak out this summer and what better way than to earn a smiley while I'm at it! Bonus: You will receive a geocaching digital souvenir on your profile page by attending and event between July 3 - Sept 2 for the Geocaching Road Trip '15. Just for fun, I'll give a special prize to the person who travels the furthest to attend!

The picnic shelter is reserved (posted coordinates), so bring a picnic supper and then let's hit the water. You must bring your own boat. I don't have an extra and there are no rentals on site.

Who: Any geocacher and their muggle friends/family is invited

What: A great excuse to get together and get out on the water

When: Thursday, July 16,  6:00 - 6:30 pm picnic, 6:30 - 8:00 pm paddle (others may hang out at the shelter anytime throughout the event)

Where: Lake Atwood is located in The Hollows Conservation Area in Cary

Why: Because paddling = fun and hanging with other cachers is fun too!

Lake Atwood is about 22 acres in size. You may launch your kayak, canoe, or electric motor boat here. You must follow Illinois boat registration rules and bring your floatation device (safety is important!). If you are into fishing, the lake is stocked annually in spring and contains bluegill, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and rainbow trout. Don't forget your fishing license!

Hope to see you there!
