The Cootie Cache – A Bug Way Station Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Shop99er: Folks, I'm going to shut this one down.

We went out to see if the reports of the cache being missing were correct, and they were. It is utterly gone. No sign of the box, nor of the contents.

I believe that replacing it would be a major mistake. There is a path both from the park, and from up-hill that leads right to it. Whoever grabbed this one will be watching for another.

I have e-mailed the owners of the 3 TB's that vanished with the cache.

Geocache Description:

This is an easy to find, easy to get to Travel Bug ONLY cache. It is designed to give you a quick and easy place to find and drop off bugs.

Located just outside of Gorst…where America shops… Otto Jarstad Park is a small, reservations only park. Usually, the park gate is closed and locked but there is enough area to park well off the road in front of the gate. Just walk around the locked gate if it’s not open.

There is a paved path going into the park. The slightly higher terrain rating is only because you have to walk across a grass field and about 10 feet into a wooded area.

The GPS had about a 50 foot error rating on the day the readings were taken but with the photo hints you don’t really need a GPS at all. To find the cache:

1) Walk the paved path to just before the picnic area.
2) Go across the lawn to the coordinates in front of the wooded area. You are now about 36 feet from the cache.
3) You are looking for a set of large and small trees in an area that isn’t thick with blackberry vines. As you look at them you will see three smaller trees in a row and two larger trees. The larger trees have a wide gap in between them and a slight path. (See photo image)
4) As you step into the woods to your right you will see an interesting and large cedar tree. (See photo image)
5) To your left there is a large log laying on the ground with a burned out stump right behind it. (See photo image)
6) The cache is under the fallen log at the cut end point. (See photo image of Shop99er pointing to where the cache is)

You will be looking for a small ammo box painted black.

This is a Travel Bug way station. Please do not deposit anything in the cache except Travel Bugs. If you wish to leave them, GeoCoins, Where's George Dollars, GeoTokens, and Signature items are also welcome. You may find the cache and claim it by just signing the log if you don’t have a Travel Bug to trade, or one of the other listed items to drop off. but please NO SWAG. If you take a Travel Bug you must leave a Travel Bug. DO NOT TAKE ONE WITHOUT LEAVING ONE UNLESS THERE ARE MORE THAN THREE BUGS IN THE CACHE. Feel free to drop off as many as you please!

Please return everything exactly as you found it.

Just a note on Travel Bugs…please PLEASE include a note as to where the bug is going. It’s frustrating for us, as cachers, and owners of bugs to pick a bug up and move it in the wrong direction. If necessary please replace torn or worn zip lock bags. Add travel destinations for the next cacher if they have none.
