Long pants suggested Scenic View |

I introduced my father-in-law to geocaching recently, and he's been very excited about the prospect of placing caches and helping to maintain them. He had planned a trip for all of us to head up to West Rosebud Creek to take in the sights/surroundings, and wanted to know if there was a cache there to find.
Well, now there is.
On the drive up, take the time to stop at Emerald Lake and just look around. The views of the peaks and outstanding camera shots with the lake as a foreground make this a wonderful spot. After arriving at the parking area, you are just up the way from West Rosebud Creek and the hydroelectric plant. Looking up the mountainside, you can see the pipeline that funnels water down to the plant, which is fed from a 2-mile tunnel bored through the mountain some 70+ years ago. While up here, take an afternoon and hike the 3-mile trail up to Mystic Lake. Having small children with me, I regret that I didn't have an opportunity to do so. The next time I come up, this hike will be on the must-do list.
The cache is an ammo can, well hidden from view.
If you take the hike to Mystic Lake, I would love to see some photos attached to your cache log.
