trolley

The mischievous trolley conductor has run off with the trolley's lost and found box, along with the day's receipts. It's YOUR mission to recover them for the Auburn City Railway Company.

During the last of his daily trips to the park, the evil conductor grabbed the box, and bolted away from the trolley. There were no witnesses.

He stashed the box far out of the way, and planned to pick it up later. The hiding spot was so good, that he was concerned he wouldn't be able to find the box when he returned. He recorded the box's location on a scrap of paper and placed it in a waterproof match container, which he then hid in a tree.

The match container's hiding spot was pretty good too. With so many trees in the area, there was no way he'd be able to find it when he came back for the loot. He devised a little puzzle to help him retrace his steps, then returned to driving the trolley.

At the end of the day, the trolley returned to it's main station. The conductor was questioned and then taken into custody by local law enforcement officials. He will not confess.

Several detectives are on the case, but so far they've been unable to solve the mystery. Use your superior intellect to help them out.

The Auburn City Railway Company has decided that you may keep the contents of the lost and found box, and the money from that day, but they will need you to tell them the whereabouts of the box. The police plan to make a plaster cast of the ground next to the box's location, so that they can use the conductor's shoe print as evidence in the case against him.

Here is a list of items found on the conductor when he was taken into custody.
1. A picture of himself and the trolley. On the back of the picture, there is this writing: "Left of the yellow arrow."
2. A scrap of paper with this cryptic message scribbled on it:
A=6 B=0 C=2 D=0 E=8 F=0 G=3 H=2 I=9 J=5 K=2 L=4 M=3 N=3 O=7 P=0 Q=1 R=9 S=6 T=3 U=1 V=5 W=2 X=4 Y=7 Z=3
3. 1 dirt covered shoe horn.
4. A map of the area with this notation on the side: "Find the sign, look for the first eight letter word after "This.""
