Are you in a rut from searching for a veritable plethora of easy "park and grab" caches?
Are too many mind-bending searches for mini-, micro-, nano-, and pico- caches getting you down?
We have the cure! Slow down, set aside a morning or afternoon for a nice hike in the park, and search for the Geezers' Geek-O-Rama! The search is the reward!
We're aging computer geeks who want to share some of our "stuff." Please stick roughly to the computer theme when you trade items. Your contribution doesn't have to be anything valuable or even useful.
This cache will require some outdoor skills. The area is known for wildlife, including deer, bears, raccoons, snakes, spiders, and birds. There are downed trees, mud, and poison ivy. In the buggy season, you'll want to use repellent on your skin and clothing to keep the mosquitoes and ticks at bay. Bring plenty of water, particularly if it is a hot day. Part of the hike will be off-trail, so some moderate bushwhacking might be necessary.
The cache is in a .50 caliber ammo box painted in camo colors, with a geocaching sticker on one side.
Trail maps are available at the park office at the entrance and at various trailheads. There are many interesting and varied trails to consider using. The use of bikes or horses is possible, but you'll have to dismount and walk when you reach about a half mile from the cache. If you plan your route carefully, you'll minimize the mileage.
As always when in natural lands, take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints, and kill nothing but time.
Thanks to the park managers who approved this cache placement. Good luck hunting!
