Venor Infernus Sempervirons II
Those that have cached in this area, and
specifically in Henry Cowell State Park next door know very well
what this means! Using "The Force" is a neccessary skill when
caching around here, but you won't need it for this event. Hula
Bum, Keiki Cacher and I have once again reserved a BBQ area in
Roaring Camp; last year's event was a great success and this year's
should be even better. Did somebody say "Dueling Trebuchets??"
Like last year, there will be BBQ, trains,
caching available nearby, and hopefully an epic battle led on one
side by Touchstone of the South and the other side led by Worker Of
Wood of the North! Woo hoo!
There will be door prizes, giveaways and of course a free raffle.
Last year's Grand Prize was a brand new
Magellan eXplorist 100 - what will this year's be???
Schedule:
- 11:00 - Show up and 'talk story', get directions for
caches nearby, etc.
- 12:00 - Charcoal will be lit
- 1:00 - Prizes given away (must be present to
win)
We'll be in Deer Creek Right - PDF map
available here
Food: Semi-pot luck
Bring your own main dish along with a side dish (see below) that
will serve a couple of people.
- Last Name A-D:All things Snacks
- Last Name E-K:All things Sweet
- Last Name L-P:All things Fruits and Vegetables
- Last Name Q-T:All things liquid
- Last Name U-Z:All things Starchy
We'll provide the charcoal, utensils, condiments, plates, napkins,
and cups.
NOTE: Roaring Camp does
require a $6.00 parking fee as does Henry Cowell next door. If you
park in the Henry Cowell parking lot (off Highway 9) you can take a
short stroll to the picnic ground.
We've fronted the funds needed to reserve this
spot and provide the BBQ stuff.
A donation jar (ok, ammo box) will be made available on-site; a
couple-dollar donation from each attendee will help offset these
costs and would be appreciated, but not required or
tracked.
5/5/06: PLEASE no
virtual coin or TB logs in the event. If you wish to let people log
your coins, please just have them grab the coins directly from you
instead of dropping them into and out of the event listing. Same
with Travel Bugs. If you intend to drop TB and/or pick them up -
great! Please help them along, but refrain from picking up the bugs
and dropping them back into the event. There is a
new log type for this called "Discovered It" - please use that
instead of dropping them into the event. Mahalo.
