Geocache Description:

A signal has been found... An encoded message has been discovered... Find the key... Decode the message... Find the cache...

The coordinates listed above are NOT for the actual cache location.

I created this cache (and it's puzzle) with one of my favorite movies in mind: Contact. It's a great movie and I highly suggest you see it if you need some help solving the final stage of the cache puzzle.

I'm one of those people who think we are not alone in the universe. I'm not so sure that we have been visited, but I agree that if we are the only ones in the universe, then it seems like an aweful waste of space.
I think it would be great if we were contacted by an extra-terrestrial species. We're listening... Hopefully, whoever else is out there is listening too. 22 years ago to this very day (original cache placement day of November 16th, 2001), the first intentional interstellar radio message was sent from the Arecibo radio telescope towards M 41, a cluster of stars some 25,000 light years away. If someone is there, all we have to do is hope that they are listening, and wait for them to contact us :)

The first step to solving the cache puzzle begins at my website, http://geocaching.moonrize.com. Go there, and click on the 'Contact' link. You're on your own from there...

The cache is a large container, so think big when you come to trade.

* * * * UPDATE! (04/06/2003) * * * *

The cache has been re-hidden (with some help from the Tungsten Jihad! and Oregone)!
Until I update the puzzle, you will need to apply the following offset to the coodrinates that you find:

  • Add 00° 10.262 to the N
  • Add 000° 15.620 to the W
  • Enjoy!
