Geocache Description:

Riverside county park

The first Spaniards called this area "El Pinal De La Cruz De Santa Teresa" when they explored the Hillsborough River in 1757.

The cache has been placed in the Scout Park section of the Riverhills Park. This fee-free park has an easy access boat ramp with parking for boat trailers and is a great spot to launch kayaks. Local boaters will often launch their craft here after playing in the Gulf or Tampa Bay in order to help rinse out the salt.

The car parking area can be found at coordinates:
N28 01.268
W82 23.260

Even though there is another area for over-flow parking at the secondary lot (N28 01.108 / W82 23.127) that is also slightly closer to the cache, I recommend the first lot as the walk will take you along a nice riverside boardwalk that has plenty of benches with which you can rest and enjoy the view. The park also has several nice playground sets as well as a gazebo for small picnics and parties.

Cache is a traditional (50 cal ammo container) container. The cache will be about 10 feet off the trail, so no need for bushwhacking. Simply follow the trail that heads in the general direction of the cache. The trail can get muddy after a heavy rain, so watch your footing. Travel bugs are, of course, welcome to the cache. If you are unsure of how they work, please read up before removing one from a cache. The travel bugs (TBs) usually have metal dog tags attached to an item. As soon as you log your cache find, then you are to also log that you picked up the bug on a seperate section of the website. Please do not remove a travel bug from the cache unless you fully intend to drop it off again soon or take it closer to the mission that the owner had set. It can be frustrating to go to a cache looking to grab a TB and find that it has been previously removed, yet unrecorded. So in short, please log your pickup or drop off of a TB as soon as possible. However, please don't log the pickup until the previous cacher had an opportunity to log the drop, else the tracking will be messed up. Usually a recent drop will be noted in the paper logbook found at in the cache.
