Geocache Description:

You're going to have to climb just a little bit to reach this one. The railroad created this fairly impressive cut to get through this rise in the land. Please re-hide the cache well so muggles won't be able to see it from above or below.

SERIES INFO: The "Oreland Spur Adventure" is a series of 10 caches that follow the abandoned Oreland Spur railroad line through the Wildcat Ridge Wildlife Management Area. These caches highlight the most interesting and beautiful spots along the line. If you park at the recommended parking near the first cache and plan on completing the series, you will walk 2.5 miles each way along the railroad line. RAILROAD INFO: This abandoned railroad bed was once "The Oreland Spur." It split off of the Wharton and Northern Railroad line on the east side of Lake Denmark. The Oreland Spur served Upper Hibernia, AKA Oreland. Upper Hibernia was once a thriving mining community with homes, stores, churches, schools etc. There are no remaining buildings, but there are lots of old foundations, roads, and mining structure ruins throughout the area. This railroad carried iron ore out of Upper Hibernia and also carried passengers and goods in and out of town.
