The Lonely Tree Traditional Cache
RED 5: Stopped by to check on the cache and yes, it was still there. However, the location looks like it's become a hangout spot with evidence of some nefarious business going on so I decided to archive this one because it's no longer the kind of place I want people visiting, especially with kids. Thanks to those who visited the Lonely Tree in better times.

The Lonely Tree
In a far corner of Verleye park in East Northport stood a lonely
tree. Away from the activity of the playground, tennis courts and
basketball court she waited out her days with only the squirrels
and rabbits as company. If by chance people came nearby it was
usually just to retrieve a wayward soccer ball, and most of them
never even glanced her way.
That’s how it was, until one day a visitor came. The visitor,
holding some kind of device, approached the lonely tree from far
across the park. As he got closer, the lonely tree got excited.
“He’s coming to see me,” the lonely tree thought to herself
excitedly. And she was right. The visitor examined the lonely tree
from all angles. Holding the strange device in the air under the
lonely tree’s boughs, and holding it low by the base of the lonely
tree’s trunk. This went on for a few minutes until the visitor,
seemingly satisfied, walked slowly away from the lonely tree.
Watching him leave, the lonely tree felt happy to have finally been
noticed by someone, but sad to resume her usual lonely existence.
But then, something wonderful happened! The day after the visitor
came; more people began to approach the lonely tree, each holding
one of those weird and wonderful devices. Day by day they came and
visited with the lonely tree, sometimes in groups, sometimes alone.
But they came, and they kept on coming, and the lonely tree wasn’t
lonely anymore.
The End
