Over the past 5 Dairy Daze I have tried to keep each one fresh and
new, with original ideas and different locations. I hope to keep
with this theme by holding it at a new location (check back for
exact coords in a few weeks), some new hide ideas, some GC
loggables and some of your favourite things from past years. The
charge will be $5 /person aid in covering the costs. children 5
and under are free and a maximum of $20/ family. Donations
above this is appreciated and there will be door prize tickets
available for purchase.(the tractor is green this
year)
This event will be held down the road to the west on another
of our farms but at this moment I'm not sure which field we'll be
parking in so check back around the start of August.
We will meet at the coords at 2:30pm and the caching will get
underway about 3pm. This farm has no buildings, no animals
and only central dirt & gravel laneways. The buildings and
animals that are in the area are our neighbours so please do not
disturb them. For this reason I would ask that you only walk
the farm as taking a bike through a corn field will not be good for
the bike or the corn.
There is plenty of wild life that makes this area home so please
keep your dogs and kids close at hand.
You will be welcome to cache until 5:30 (you may continue if you
wish) at which time we will gather together for... corn on the
cob. Don't worry I'm still doing corn! Then some door prizes and all should be done
by 7ish.
I checked back at my posting for the original Dairy Daze and
I ended with the comment that there were 96 caches in a 15 km
radius of the event to find... well I just now I did the same
search for fun and that number has grown to 597 caches. Have you
got them all?
If this is your 1st Dairy Daze I'm sure you'll enjoy it! Feel free
to ask around or check logs from past years(GC2764X & GC1RJGZ
are the past 2 years) However if you are returning then I know you
will enjoy it again! As the date draws nearer remember to check
back for the final coords and a list of suggested items to
bring.
Update Aug 6:
Well with 2 weeks to go there is still a lot still to do but its
always chaos near the end. (I live for it!) The cache
locations have been picked and caches are going out this week.
There will also be some new loggables released the day of the
event. Hum... ftf possibilities but where will they be??? A
reminder that dogs should have a leash, You will want a chair or
blanket to sit on, the event runs @#*% or shine, there will be a
fire for wiener & mallow burning, Long pants are always a good
idea and sun screen, bug juice and 1st aid kit should always be
close at hand. Counting the days but until then cache
safely!UPDATE AUG. 16:Things are finally coming together.
Looks like there will be a couple caches released the day of the
event. There are also over 20 event only caches that should
challenge even the most experienced cachers. Please come ready to
have fun and make new friends. See you all Saturday.
######################################### WW knew this all along !
This Saturday, August 20th is the first International Geocaching
Day! You can celebrate with fellow geocachers at an event near you
or simply mark the day by finding a geocache. Anyone who finds a
cache or logs an "attended" for an event will receive the
International Geocaching Day souvenir. Obviously better LATE Thank
You Bobki for posting this note.
