Geocache Description:

Denham Hill Quarry is a site no longer used for quarrying, but contains many features of geological interest!

You can park within a few metres of the published co-ordinates. By studying the area, and taking note of the information boards, please answer the following questions BY EMAIL to claim this cache!

All the answers to the questions below are easily obtainable from the co-ordinates given.

The thick beds of sandstone are interrupted in places by rounded masses of softer red material. What were these named?

Housewives in the early 20th century used to use these as what?

The sediments in this quarry were deposited in a large river delta. What are the lines between the layers of rock called?

How many years ago were the rocks formed?

The Carboniferous Period can be broken down into three further periods. What are they?

You also need to take a photo of yourself or your GPS at the trig point, either showing the trig itself, or the views from it. Looking towards Winter Hill, you can clearly see the Round Loaf earthcache but I'll be beggared if that's classed as a find!
