These coordinates are located on private property. The owner has
knowledge of this cache and has given permission for cachers to
come in and visit. Cache is not available after dark. You may claim
this as a find if you post a picture of you or your gps with the
Balcones Fault Zone in the background.
From this hilltop, you can see a panoramic view of the Balcones
Fault Zone. This is part of the primary recharge area for the
Edwards Aquifer, currently the sole source of drinking water for
San Antonio and nearby communities. The area around here is made of
Glen Rose limestone, which is composed of alternating harder and
softer layers. The softer layers erode more rapidly, exposing large
bands of the harder limestone. This gives the hills their terraced
or balconied appearance. Hence the Spanish name "Balcones".
In order to comply with the new guidelines for Earthcaches,
which require you to " do " something, I would like for you to
count the number of "balconies" that you see and send that number
to me in a private email.
This property is owned by the Hindu temple of San Antonio. The
priest has OK'd it for geocachers to come up to the coordinates and
take pictures. Please be respectful of your surroundings and dress
appropriately. There is a no trespassing sign at the entrance, but
that doesn't apply to cachers who are here to see the
Earthcache.

February 6 by KlingonTrekker (84 found) Ooh. I loved this one. I thought the Hindu temple was way more interesting than the balconies though. Maybe this should be a Virtual Cache. I'll rate it as one of the more interesting caches. I sent Cybercat her info and will post my mug and GPSr with this.

January 9 by bittybit (1527 found) no muggle and I did this after the TPWD challenge cache. Yikes! What a drive up but worth the view. We took some pictures and are guessing about the answers to the question due to the mining taking place in the area.

January 9 by no muggle (3121 found) Stopped by this earthcache after grabbing the nearby Texas State Park Challenge cache. Definitely a trip straight up, and great views once you get there. Like a previous cacher or two said, the mining that is going on makes it a little difficult to count the balconies. My guess is coming by email, picture as soon as I get an umbilical cord for my camera (left that at home). Thanks for the earthcache!!!

December 22, 2009 by Spies Like Us (1504 found) Agent 99 wasn't sure about the steep driveway, but she perservered. The views from up here are pretty nice. I believe I took a picture, and was looking at the right geological structure. I'll send notes in a separate email. I'll upload a picture just as soon as GC.com lets me. TFTC!
