Geocache Description:

Due to popular demand, this Christmas Event has been put together for cachers in the area (and perhaps even further afield) to meet up, discuss the caches of 2004 and plan those for 2005, and indulge in some festive cheer. Thanks to Padmassna and Bekandian who have been roped in to help and who have done loads of excellent new cache-setting work!

Time - 19:00hrs

Place - The George & Dragon, Northchurch

.
We should be having a corner reserved for our sole use.

The pub is open all afternoon, from 12.00pm onwards and dogs are welcome, in the evening at least.

The co-ordinates above will take you to the car park of the venue. Additional parking exists down New Road which is almost opposite the pub (with respect to the residents please).

There is no limit to numbers for this event, although it would be nice if people logged in to say that they intend to come, so we can expect them. There is no ticket for the event, but as a result there will be no food other than snacks available at the pub. On the plus side, the start time is late enough so that people can eat before they come out, and there are loads of eateries in nearby Berkhamsted (and a decent chippy very close by in Northchurch itself).

If you intend to travel by public transport, there is a regular train service to Berkhamsted Station which is a mile and a half walk away. The service is by Silverlink via London Euston/Birmingham. Here is a link to the Silverlink Trains Website including online timetables. There is also a bus service. The number 500/501 Bus operates between Aylesbury - Tring - Watford and goes right past the door.

Please mail me with any specific questions. I look forwards to seeing you there!

Latest additions

There will be the usual TB swap. Bring along a TB and take a different one home with you! You can either pre-drop them into the event, to whet everybody's appetite or just bring them along on the day!

ELEVEN new local caches have been planted to co-incide with the event. See the handy list below (in no particular order). The caches which are readily walkable from the pub are marked with an asterisk. No doubt, some print-outs will be available on the day, and the gadget freaks will be able to assist with their various IPacs, WAPS, Palms, etc!

The event will also have a 'Bran Tub' (AKA 'Secret Santa'), so please bring along something to go into this. Try to keep this to a target cost of around £3. For those of you who don't know what a Bran Tub is, everybody puts a wrapped present in and then takes a different one out. That way, everybody gets something to take away and nobody has to spend a fortune. It's very much the same principal as normal cache trades, but the swaps are done blind so what you get is pot luck (and no used golf balls!).
