The Galah, Eolophus roseicapillus, is also known as the
Rose-breasted Cockatoo or Galah Cockatoo. It is one of the most
common and widespread cockatoos, and it can be found in open
country in almost all parts of mainland Australia. It is endemic in
Australia (including Tasmania), where its distinctive pink and grey
plumage and its bold and loud behaviour make it a familiar sight in
The Bush and increasingly in urban areas. It appears to have
benefited from the change in the landscape since European
colonization and may be replacing the rare Major Mitchell's
Cockatoo in parts of its range. The term galah is derived from
gilaa, a word found in Yuwaalaraay and neighbouring Aboriginal
languages (source: wikipedia).
This cache is located near the largest galah sighted in
Australia scientifically called Giganticus Cockyus (wifes idea),
locally known as the Big Galah.
Cache is a camouflaged (maybe too well) container with log and
pencils only.

[view this log] | September 21 by WanderingAus (1633 found) WanderingAus wandered by on day 110 of a "climatic refugee" trip, and made a fairly easy GAFF 1 find. GZ had me hunting at one tree, and a lady emerged from the shop across the road and called out "Are you geocaching?". I replied in the affirmative, and she then called out "you're looking for a ?????? - it's in that other tree". As I hadn't read any cache notes, I only knew it was a Micro Traditional (I have GSAK set to output "Eolophus roseicapillus MT (2/1.5)" using the code "%Name %con1%typ1(%Dif/%Ter)"). I had been searching the logical spots for an expected micro.Acting on this new information, I moved to the indicated tree and perused it thoroughly, and DID NOT FIND IT. I proceeded to the next tree, and again DID NOT FIND IT. The lady insisted the first tree was where it was, and eventually went inside. I then continued the hunt, and found the cache only 5 metres from GZ. I'm still claiming a GAFF 1 find, as the new information hindered me more than it helped. I went into the shop to inform the lady where I had found it, and suggested the owner may have re-furbished it, which turned out to be true. An Update Coordinates might be in order. My find No 1898, TNLNSL. *Recommended* *Overall Experience: 2* T4TH ThisMechaniCan Keith
