The Chatsworth Depot Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wildsambo: Someone finally decided to take our container. For those that never found it, we're sorry. It was something we were very proud of. We thought it was clever and always enjoyed meeting other geocachers. We're disappointed that this cache has to be archived, but unfortunately we've seen way too many "good" caches be vandalized or stolen while lamppost park and grab film canisters seem to live on forever. Maybe we should have chained it down, but honestly we don't think it would have mattered. We won't be replacing it this time.

Thanks for all of the favorite points We appreciate every one of them!

Geocache Description:

Here's an exciting cache with a lot of cool goodies, but you won't be able to catch a train here.

Please place cache back like you found it. If this cache is sitting in the open, please message me!

-=PLEASE READ=-

For the benefit of future players please don't relocate this cache! If you think the difficulty rating is wrong, then let's talk about it. Five times now we've found the cache out in the open and visible for anyone to see just walking or driving by. Yes, that includes Pokemon Go players, painted rock hunters, and the neighborhood kids. When that happens the cache gets pilfered and we have to scramble to replenish. We've even had folks take pieces of the container. We rated it a 3 for difficulty and a 3 for terrain. It's not a park and grab, and was never intended to be. Yes, you might get dirty; we do every time we have to put the cache back in its place! (If you find the cache in the open and want to put it back where it belongs, look in the hint for the proper location.)

Be aware: this site is also a Pokestop and a favorite place for people to hide painted rocks; please use stealth and watch for muggles.

This cache should be a fun experience and offer some excellent PHOTO opportunities.  Look high and low.  You can find it!

We've enjoyed the heck out of all the favorites given and seeing the pictures you've taken. We're glad you're enjoying this cache. We thought long and hard about how and where to place it, and we're proud of what we've created. We do it for you, but we get a lot of "utils" from it.

You may have noticed that the Caboose is in the process of restoration. You can help with that. Please go here to donate: Restore the Caboose

Now for some more stuff that makes us sad...

ATTENTION: We are still having problems with how people are trading items. Remember, the stuff in the box is not free to take. You should always trade with equal or greater value. A tiny plastic spider ring is not a fair trade for a Yo-yo, or a bible, or whatever. Seriously folks, when we first started this cache it had a ton of stuff in it, and it stayed that way for several months, but now we have to go back every month or so and pour more items into the cache.

Also, there have been problems with trackables going missing out of this cache. If you take a travel bug or a trackable please log it. Not just in your log but in the place to log travel bugs. If you do not know how to do this either do not take the trackable at all or learn how to log a travel bug.

Thank you for your interest and support however if problems persist we feel as if we will need to deactivate this geocache. That makes us sad. :(

Chatsworth's 1909 Louisville & Nashville Railroad depot was moved a block to a site beside the historic Wright Hotel, which was constructed about the same time. Rehabilitated by the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society several years ago, the building now houses exhibits on the railroad and area talc mining.

Congratulations on FTF to Silversurfer03 and ELJLYLE!
