Geocache Description:

Former lookout site located southeast of Dayton. Will not be accessible during the winter months. Nice views of the Blue Mountains, Dayton, Huntsville, and the surrounding Palouse from the cache location.

Cache is a small 6x6 inch lock n’ lock container located .12 mile NE of the lookout location. Due to accesability and possible fire hazzard, I decided to locate the cache along Crall Hollow Road for easier and safer access.

.12 mile SW of the cache location is a radio repeater shack where the lookout was once located. The first lookout was an L4 tower built during the 1940’s. It was replaced during the 1960’s with a DNR tower and was operated by DNR until 1996 when it was torn down. A victim of modern technology. Thanks to WR7X for the history. You can find more fire lookout info at his website.

Directions from Dayton: Tun south on 4th Street. Follow 4th past the city limits where it will become North Touchet Rd. About 1.5 miles past the city limits turn left on to Crall Hollow Rd. and let your GPS lead you from there. Past the cache location, Crall Hollow Rd. will intersect with Eckler Mountain Rd. (46 Road).
