End of the Road # 28 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

ePeterso2: Drove by this one yesterday. It's been completely bulldozed. I figured it was just a matter of time, given all of the construction taking place in the vicinity.

Geocache Description:

As you hike down the path towards the cache coordinates, you notice that someone has scrawled a message on a concrete barricade with a Sharpie: BEWARE: One of the guards always tells the truth, one of them always lies, one of them alternates between the two, and one craves the taste of human flesh! Ominous.

Hesitantly, you press onward. Just off of the path, in a small clearing, you find four guards seated at a round table, playing First to Find. Each guard is wearing a shirt with the Groundspeak logo, but each shirt is a different color: Orange, Yellow, Blue, and Green. You brandish your hiking pole menacingly and prepare for a fight, but they just look up at you and nod amicably. "Hello," says the guard in the Yellow shirt.

"Er, hi," you say. "Um, don't mind me; I was just hunting for a cache."

The guard wearing Orange says, "I suppose you want the combination to the padlock, then? I'm getting really tired of people asking about that."

"He's lying," says Yellow.

"No," says Green, "you're the one lying."

"Graaaaagh," says Blue.

"Great," you sigh. "What's the combination, then?"

"Well," says Orange, "the first digit is 8."

"No it isn't," says Green. "It's 3."

Yellow shakes his head. "You're full of it."

"Don't interrupt. The second digit now -- that's 4," says Green.

"Graaaaagh," says Blue.

"It's 1, in fact," Orange.

Yellow grumbles, "It's definitely more than that -- it's 6."

"And the last digit is 2," says Orange, ignoring Yellow.

"Don't listen to him," says Green. "It's 7."

"No, it is 2, I'm sure of it," says Yellow.

"Graaaaagh," says Blue.

You roll your eyes. "Great. Thanks a lot, guys."

I hope you'll enjoy this fun twist to the local End of the Road series.

This road used to be the entrance to Florida's Turnpike from US-441 and SR-84 before I-595 was built. As you hike to the cache, you can easily see where the toll booths used to stand.

You do not need to enter the mobile home park to find the cache. There is no way to get to the cache from the mobile home park without trespassing. Stay on SW 30 St and park at the concrete barricades.

NOTE: You must sign the log to claim a find for this cache. Just finding the container doesn't count.
